*** Test Matrix ***
This test matrix provides a brief description of the load case applied during each experiment. All tests were conducted under displacement control.
For all AE001 experiments the acoustic emission detection threshold was set to 62 dB. For AE003-QS3 and all AE003-Fat tests the threshold was set at 55 dB. The settings for AE003-QS1 and AE003-QS are given in the table.

EXPERIMENT	DESCRIPTION
AE001-QS1	Quasi-static (QS) load at 1 mm/min until the first acoustic emission signal, then displacement held constant
AE001-QS2	QS load at 1 mm/min until drop in the force. Fatigue machine safety interlock activated before this happened. Higher capacity load cell (10 		kN) installed.
AE001-QS3	QS load at 1 mm/min until drop in the force, then displacement held constant.
AE001-QS4	QS load at 1 mm/min until crack length had been extended to roughly 100 mm.
AE001-QS5	QS load at 1 mm/min until drop in the force, then displacement held constant.

AE003-QS1	QS load at 1 mm/min in order to create a coehsive crack. Test stopped after onset of crack growth determined visually AE threshold: 62 dB
AE003-QS2	QS load at 1 mm/min until the first acoustic emission signal. Then displacement held constant. AE threshold = 50 dB. Test repeated with AE 		threshold = 55 dB. Test repeated again, but only holding after the first *cluster* of signals, rather than the first hit.
AE003-QS3	QS load at 1 mm/min until drop in the load, then displacement held constant.
